Adopted August 2016.
Affectionately known as Mikey, this gelding is a sixteen year old black and white leopard Appaloosa. He is a substantial 15-2 hands. In 2000 he was rescued from slaughter and came to Equine Aid. He was a very frightened horse and very wary of people. He has become quite sociable and is easy to handle. He was started in saddle training but not finished as he developed intermittent lameness in his hind legs due to high ringbone in both ankles. He is blind in his right eye but doesn’t seem bothered by any limitation.
Mike is a friendly, easy-keeper pasture companion who was adopted in August of 2016 along with his pasture-mate, Scarlett.
